How Does the Boat Watermaker Work?
Seawater Is Taken In
Seawater from around the boat is taken aboard and directed into the treatment line.
Through the Pre-Filter
The 5 micron pre-filter screens out sand and larger particles, protecting the membrane and raising output.
Fed to the Membrane Under High Pressure
The 316SS high-pressure pump delivers the pre-filtered water to the thin-film spiral membranes under high pressure.
The Salt Is Separated
The membrane lets only water molecules through; salt and contaminants are separated out and the concentrate returned to the sea.
The Fresh Water Goes to the Tank
The fresh water produced, supported by the carbon rinse, is transferred to the boat’s fresh water tank and is ready to use.

Notes That Extend Its Life
- The 5 micron pre-filter should be checked regularly and changed when it blocks; the pre-filter is what protects the membrane.
- After use and during long lay-ups the membrane should be rinsed with clean water through the carbon filter and preserved as the manufacturer recommends.
- The membrane is sensitive to chlorine; use chlorine-free water for rinsing and cleaning, and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

How is it installed?
Installation and commissioning are the customer’s responsibility; the seawater intake, the fresh water tank connection and the discharge line all need planning. Professional installation is available on request at extra cost.
What shortens the membrane’s life?
The greatest risks are chlorine, oxidants and inadequate pre-filtration. A pre-filter that is working properly, rinsing after use and following the manufacturer’s maintenance instructions all extend membrane life.

Warranty
2 years · manufacturerThe system is covered by a 2-year manufacturer warranty. During the warranty period, labour and parts are free for faults arising from manufacture or installation. Consumables such as filters, membranes and resin are outside warranty cover — they are replaced when their service life ends; they do not fail.
