Filmtec SW30-2521 Seawater Membrane

The Filmtec SW30-2521 Seawater Membrane is a 2.5″×21″ SWRO element designed to treat highly saline seawater by reverse osmosis; with salt rejection of up to 99.4% and high output, it turns salt water into drinking and utility water in marine and land-based desalination systems.

01Problem & Solution

Seawater Is Beyond a Standard Membrane

Problem

High Salinity, High Pressure

Seawater has a very high salt content and treating it requires high pressure. Standard brackish-water membranes cannot handle that salinity or withstand that pressure; a dedicated seawater membrane is needed.

Solution

A High-Rejection SWRO Membrane

Built for high salinity and pressure, the thin-film composite structure of the Filmtec SW30-2521 Seawater Membrane rejects up to 99.4% of the salt, turning seawater into drinking and utility water.

02Key Features

High Output, High Rejection

The Filmtec SW30-2521 Seawater Membrane is designed for high performance and consistency in seawater treatment.

Salt Rejection Up to 99.4%

High salt rejection removes almost all of the salt in seawater and produces drinkable water.

High Flow

One of the highest flow rates in its class, giving roughly 300 GPD (about 1.1 m³) a day.

Thin-Film Composite Construction

A thin-film composite membrane built for high pressure works safely in seawater conditions.

Flexibility at Lower Pressure

It can also run at lower pressure where required, reducing pump size, capital cost and running costs.

Consistent Performance

Automated, precise manufacturing gives performance that is consistent from element to element and year to year.

Standard 2.5″ Fit

It fits standard pressure vessels with a 2.5″ internal diameter and integrates easily into existing systems.

04Applications

Where Is It Used?

The Filmtec SW30-2521 Seawater Membrane is used in small and mid-scale seawater desalination systems.

  • Seawater Desalination
  • Boats & Yachts (Watermakers)
  • Islands & Coastal Facilities
  • Hotels & Holiday Resorts
  • Treating High-TDS Water
  • Land-Based Desalination
  • SWRO Membrane Replacement
  • Spare Membrane Supply

05How It Works

How Does the Filmtec SW30-2521 Seawater Membrane Work?

  1. Pre-Treatment and Chlorine Removal

Before it reaches the membrane, seawater passes through sediment and carbon pre-filters; removing the chlorine protects the membrane.

  2. High-Pressure Feed

The high-pressure pump delivers seawater at high pressure to the SW30-2521 element inside the membrane vessel.

  3. Salt Separation at the Membrane

The thin-film composite membrane lets water through while holding back up to 99.4% of the salts and ions.

  4. Permeate and Concentrate Split

The treated fresh water (permeate) leaves the system through one outlet and the high-salinity concentrate through another.

  5. Replacement and Renewal

When the membrane loses output over time, the housing is opened and the element replaced so the system carries on working.

06Making the Right Choice

What Decides the Right Membrane

When choosing the Filmtec SW30-2521 Seawater Membrane, size, capacity and system compatibility must be assessed correctly.

Housing Compatibility

The 2.5″×21″ membrane must be used with a matching pressure vessel of 2.5″ internal diameter.

Output Requirement

Daily fresh water requirement determines how many membranes are needed; higher capacities use several elements.

Feed Water Salinity

The salinity and temperature of the water affect the pressure needed and the actual output achieved.

Pump and Pre-Treatment

A high-pressure pump and pre-treatment including chlorine removal are essential to the membrane’s output and life.

07Maintenance and Use

Notes That Extend Its Life

  • Free chlorine damages the membrane permanently; removing chlorine with a carbon filter ahead of it is essential.
  • Pre-filters should be changed regularly; sediment and fouling reduce membrane output and shorten its life.
  • Permeate conductivity should be monitored; a marked rise may mean the membrane needs replacing.
  • Because of high-pressure safety, membrane replacement is best carried out by a technical service engineer.

08Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

What does the Filmtec SW30-2521 Seawater Membrane do?
It is an SWRO membrane element that treats highly saline seawater by reverse osmosis. Measuring 2.5″×21″, it rejects up to 99.4% of the salt and turns seawater into drinking and utility water.
How much water does it produce a day?
Under standard test conditions it produces roughly 300 GPD (about 1.1 m³ a day). Real output varies with feed water salinity, temperature and working pressure, and may differ by ±20% from element to element.
How does it differ from an ordinary brackish-water membrane?
Seawater membranes are designed for far higher salt rejection and pressure tolerance. The SW30-2521 has a thin-film composite structure that works at high pressure to remove high salinity; a standard brackish-water membrane cannot be used in these conditions.
Is it sensitive to chlorine?
Yes. Free chlorine and oxidising agents damage the membrane permanently, and that damage is outside the warranty. Chlorine must therefore be removed with a carbon filter ahead of the membrane.
Is it enough on its own?
The membrane is the component that does the treating, but it does not work on its own. It must be used with a suitable pressure vessel (housing), a high-pressure pump and pre-treatment that removes chlorine.

Products in stock ship free anywhere in Türkiye and arrive within 1–3 business days. Items not in stock are supplied to order — the lead time is confirmed to you when the order is approved.

Installation and commissioning

Installation is a service · plumbing is the customer’s responsibility

The system is delivered ready to install; it only needs to be connected to the inlet and outlet lines. If valve setup is required, we provide free support over a video call. Installation and commissioning fall under our service work and are subject to a service fee. Plumbing labour and any pipes, valves and fittings are not included in the price; these items are the customer’s responsibility.

Warranty

Consumable

This product is classed as a consumable or spare part; because its life depends on use, it is not covered by warranty. Faulty or incorrectly shipped items are replaced — just get in touch with us.

Withdrawal and returns

Distance sales agreement

The right of withdrawal and the return terms are set out in detail in the distance sales agreement. Systems that have been installed and commissioned, and made-to-order products, are outside its scope.

How can we help?

Two different requests, two different forms.

The two forms ask different things: if we are building a new system we ask about your water and capacity; if your existing system needs service we ask for its brand and a photo.
