Notes That Preserve Its Effectiveness
With regular maintenance the Under-Sink UV Unit keeps working as it should.
- Even while it still lights, a lamp loses intensity over time and must be renewed periodically.
- If limescale or sediment builds on the quartz sleeve the light cannot reach the water, so the sleeve should be cleaned regularly.
- The pre-filter stages should be changed on time; cloudy water reduces the unit’s effectiveness.
- Disconnect the unit from the electricity supply while changing lamps or cleaning sleeves.

Is it enough on its own?
No. This unit does not remove sediment, chlorine, hardness or dissolved salts; it is a microbiological safety stage only. Sediment and carbon filters, and a reverse osmosis stage where needed, must sit ahead of it.
What does 0.5 GPM mean?
It is the flow rate the unit is designed for — roughly half a gallon a minute. Beyond that flow the water does not stay in the light path long enough and the effect falls.
Does it change the taste of the water?
No. The process is entirely physical, so no chemical is added and no residue is left; the water keeps its taste, its smell and its mineral content.
When should the lamp be changed?
Even while it still lights, a lamp loses intensity over time, so it must be renewed at the interval the manufacturer states. The cleanliness of the quartz sleeve should be checked at the same service.

Consumables such as filters, membranes and resin are outside warranty cover — they are replaced when their service life ends; they do not fail.
