Manual Valve

The Manual Valve is an electronics-free control valve that directs the water paths of sand, activated carbon and water softening vessels by hand; the user turns it to run the service, backwash and rinse cycles, and its simplicity makes it an economical, durable and easily maintained solution.

01Problem & Solution

Not Every System Needs Automation

Problem

Unnecessary Electronics, Unnecessary Cost

Automatic valves with electronic boards cost more and need power. Where there is no electrical connection, or on low-consumption systems that wash rarely, that complication is unnecessary.

Solution

Simple Mechanical Control

The Manual Valve works without electronics. The user turns the valve to manage the service, backwash and rinse cycles, and with no board to fail it is long-lasting and economical.

02Key Features

Simple, Durable, Economical

The Manual Valve is designed to control vessel units in the simplest and most dependable way.

No Electricity Required

It works with no electronic board and no power, so it can be installed where there is no electricity.

Cycles Managed by Hand

The service, backwash and rinse cycles are directed easily by turning the valve.

Low Risk of Failure

With no electronic board, motor or sensor, there are few components that can fail.

An Economical Solution

It costs less than an automatic valve and brings the investment budget down.

Fits Standard Vessels

Fitted to a standard vessel neck, it is used on sand, carbon and softening vessels.

Easy Maintenance

Its simple mechanical construction means an O-ring and seal change keeps it in service for years.

04Applications

Where Is It Used?

The Manual Valve is used in treatment systems that do not need automation or where there is no electricity.

  • Sand Filter Units
  • Activated Carbon Systems
  • Water Softening Units
  • Pure Water Resin Vessels
  • Places Without Power
  • Low-Consumption Systems
  • Budget-Led Projects
  • Valve Replacement

05How It Works

How Does the Manual Valve Work?

  1. Fitting to the Vessel

The valve is fitted to the neck of the vessel holding the media bed, and the inlet, outlet and drain lines connected.

  2. The Service Position

With the valve in the service position, water passes through the media bed, is treated and goes to the outlet.

  3. Switching to Backwash

When it is time to wash, the user turns the valve and the water flows in reverse to clean the bed.

  4. Rinse

After the wash the valve is set to rinse; the bed is settled and the line cleared.

  5. Return to Service

The valve is returned to service and the system picks up treatment where it left off.

06Making the Right Choice

What Decides the Right Valve

When choosing the Manual Valve, the usage pattern, vessel compatibility and the discipline to keep track must be assessed correctly.

Discipline in Keeping Track

A manual valve suits places where the user can keep track of wash times.

Tank Compatibility

The valve’s neck size and riser tube diameter must match the existing vessel exactly.

System Flow Rate

The facility’s peak flow must suit the valve’s capacity; excessive flow creates pressure loss.

The Power Situation

Where there is no electricity, or the supply is intermittent, a manual valve is the practical answer.

07Maintenance and Use

Notes That Extend Its Life

  • Backwash and regeneration must be carried out on time; neglected, the bed blocks and treatment efficiency falls.
  • Turn the valve slowly and fully into position; left halfway, it can weep and leak.
  • If there is sediment at the inlet a pre-filter should be used; particles wear the gaskets and sealing faces.
  • O-rings and gaskets should be checked periodically, and installation is best carried out by a technical service engineer.

08Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

What does the Manual Valve do?
It directs the water paths of sand, activated carbon and water softening vessels. The service, backwash and rinse cycles are run by turning it by hand, with no electronics and no electricity.
How does it differ from an automatic valve?
An automatic valve starts the backwash itself, on time or on flow. With a manual valve the user keeps track of wash times and turns the valve by hand. The manual valve costs less but demands regular attention.
Does it need electricity?
No. A manual valve needs no electronic board, no motor and no power, which makes it the practical answer where there is no electricity or the supply is intermittent.
Can it be used for water softening?
Yes, it can be used on softening vessels too. The brine draw during regeneration is managed by hand as well, however, so an automatic valve is more practical where consumption is heavy and regular.
Will it fit my existing vessel?
The valve’s neck size and riser tube diameter must match the vessel, and the system’s flow rate must sit within the valve’s capacity — which is why the existing vessel size needs to be known in advance.

Installation and commissioning

Installation is a service · plumbing is the customer’s responsibility

The system is delivered ready to install; it only needs to be connected to the inlet and outlet lines. If valve setup is required, we provide free support over a video call. Installation and commissioning fall under our service work and are subject to a service fee. Plumbing labour and any pipes, valves and fittings are not included in the price; these items are the customer’s responsibility.

Warranty

Consumable

This product is classed as a consumable or spare part; because its life depends on use, it is not covered by warranty. Faulty or incorrectly shipped items are replaced — just get in touch with us.

Withdrawal and returns

Distance sales agreement

The right of withdrawal and the return terms are set out in detail in the distance sales agreement. Systems that have been installed and commissioned, and made-to-order products, are outside its scope.

Cancellation and return terms

How can we help?

Two different requests, two different forms.

The two forms ask different things: if we are building a new system we ask about your water and capacity; if your existing system needs service we ask for its brand and a photo.
