BNT1650T Digital Flow-Controlled Valve

The BNT1650T Digital Flow-Controlled Valve is the brain of a water softening system; it manages regeneration by actual water consumption rather than by the calendar. Once the set volume is reached it automatically switches to a brine wash, saving salt and water, and its digital display keeps control simple.

01Problem & Solution

A Timer Valve Wastes Salt

Problem

Regeneration by the Calendar

Timer valves regenerate on set days whether or not any water has been used. That means salt and water consumed for nothing; when usage is low, the cost is simply wasted.

Solution

Washing by Actual Consumption

The BNT1650T Digital Flow-Controlled Valve meters the water that passes through it and switches to a brine wash only when the set volume is reached. The resin is used to its full capacity and both salt and water are saved.

02Key Features

Smart, Efficient, Durable

The BNT1650T Digital Flow-Controlled Valve is designed to get the most efficiency and the easiest operation out of a water softening system.

Flow-Controlled Regeneration

Switches automatically to a brine wash once the set water volume is reached, saving both salt and water.

Digital LCD Display

A user-friendly LCD showing the day, the regeneration mode and the remaining volume makes control straightforward.

Delayed Regeneration

Even when the set volume is reached, regeneration can be held back to a chosen hour so the wash runs when water use is low.

Totaliser Function

Tracks the total volume of water treated so you can follow how the system is performing.

Battery Backup

Holds the programme and clock for roughly 48 hours during a power cut so the settings are not lost.

Reliable Piston Design

The piston, seal and spacer design delivers durable, precise and long-lasting operation.

04Applications

Where Is It Used?

The BNT1650T Digital Flow-Controlled Valve suits systems of any size where efficient, automatic water softening is wanted.

  • Domestic Softening
  • Villas & Detached Houses
  • Offices & Workplaces
  • Cafés & Restaurants
  • Commercial Softening
  • Valve Replacement
  • Tankless Systems
  • Limescale Control

05How It Works

How Does the BNT1650T Digital Flow-Controlled Valve Work?

  1. Softening (Service)

The valve passes water through the resin tank; the resin holds back calcium and magnesium, softening the water.

  2. Flow Metering

The built-in meter continuously measures the volume passing through and tracks the softening capacity left.

  3. Deciding to Regenerate

When the set volume is reached the valve decides it is time to regenerate; if the delay function is active it holds the wash until the chosen hour.

  4. Brine Wash

The valve draws brine from the salt tank to renew the resin and sends the captured hardness minerals to drain.

  5. Return to Service

Once the wash is complete the valve returns automatically to the softening position and the cycle begins again.

06Making the Right Choice

What Decides the Right Valve

When choosing the BNT1650T Digital Flow-Controlled Valve, flow requirement and tank compatibility need to be assessed correctly.

Flow Requirement

The system’s peak flow must suit the 4.5 m³/hour capacity; higher flows call for a larger valve.

Tank Compatibility

The valve’s 2½” tank connection and inlet/outlet diameter must match the existing resin tank.

Water Hardness

The hardness of the water determines the correct volume setting and how often regeneration occurs.

With or Without a Buffer Tank

Because it does not cut off raw water during the wash, it is particularly recommended for systems without a buffer tank.

07Maintenance and Use

Notes That Keep It Performing

  • There must always be enough salt in the brine tank; when the salt runs out regeneration cannot take place and the water turns hard again.
  • Volume and hardness settings must be made correctly from a water analysis; incorrect settings lead either to wasted salt or to hard water.
  • Battery backup lasts roughly 48 hours; after a long power cut the time and date should be checked.
  • The piston and seal assembly should be inspected periodically; the first installation is best carried out by a technical service engineer.

08Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

What does the BNT1650T Digital Flow-Controlled Valve do?
It is the digital control valve that manages a water softener’s regeneration. It meters the water passing through and, once the set volume is reached, automatically starts a brine wash to renew the resin.
How does it differ from a timer valve?
A timer valve regenerates on set days whether or not water has been used. A flow-controlled valve washes only when actual consumption reaches the set volume, which is what saves salt and water.
Is the water cut off during the wash?
This valve does not cut off raw water during the wash. That is why it is recommended for systems with no buffer tank; flow continues even during regeneration.
Does the valve treat the water itself?
No. The valve is not the component that treats the water but the control unit that manages the process. The resin softens the water; the valve runs the service and regeneration cycles automatically.
What connection and flow rate does it have?
The inlet/outlet connection is 1″, the tank connection 2½” and the flow rate roughly 4.5 m³/hour. It comes with a digital LCD display, delayed regeneration, a totaliser and about 48 hours of battery backup.

Installation and commissioning

Installation is a service · plumbing is the customer’s responsibility

The system is delivered ready to install; it only needs to be connected to the inlet and outlet lines. If valve setup is required, we provide free support over a video call. Installation and commissioning fall under our service work and are subject to a service fee. Plumbing labour and any pipes, valves and fittings are not included in the price; these items are the customer’s responsibility.

Warranty

Consumable

This product is classed as a consumable or spare part; because its life depends on use, it is not covered by warranty. Faulty or incorrectly shipped items are replaced — just get in touch with us.

Withdrawal and returns

Distance sales agreement

The right of withdrawal and the return terms are set out in detail in the distance sales agreement. Systems that have been installed and commissioned, and made-to-order products, are outside its scope.

How can we help?

Two different requests, two different forms.

The two forms ask different things: if we are building a new system we ask about your water and capacity; if your existing system needs service we ask for its brand and a photo.
