Sediment Filter · Melt-Blown Polypropylene

Strong First-Stage Protection with the 10 inch 5 Micron Spun Filter

The 10 inch 5 Micron Spun Filter is a polypropylene cartridge that holds back suspended solids such as sand, rust, silt and sediment that are not dissolved in the water. Working at the first stage of the treatment system, it clarifies the water and protects the carbon stages and the membrane behind it from premature wear.

01Problem & Solution

Sediment Wears the Whole System

Problem

Sand and Rust Are Reaching the Membrane

When the sand, rust and silt particles found in mains and well water are not held back, they clog the carbon stages early and wear the membrane surface. The result is falling flow, more water to drain and a shorter filter life.

Solution

Coarse Dirt Is Held at the Inlet

The 10 inch 5 Micron Spun Filter holds back particles larger than 5 micron at the very first stage. The later filters can then focus only on their own job, and the whole system runs longer and more efficiently.

02Key Features

Economical, Compatible, Effective

The 10 inch 5 Micron Spun Filter is the most common and practical pre-filtration solution.

5 Micron Filtration

Holds back sand, rust, silt and turbidity-causing particles larger than 5 micron.

Polypropylene Construction

Food-contact grade polypropylene fibre filters without leaving any taste or odour.

Graded Porosity

A fibre structure that tightens from outside in captures dirt layer by layer, delaying clogging.

Standard 10 inch Size

Compatible with common 10″ filter housings; it can be used regardless of brand.

Protects the Membrane

By holding coarse dirt at the front, it extends the life of the carbon stages and the membrane.

Low Cost

Regular replacement is inexpensive, and by protecting the costly stages it lowers overall maintenance spend.

04Applications

Where Is It Used?

The 10 inch 5 Micron Spun Filter can be used in any installation that needs pre-filtration.

  • Under-Sink Treatment Systems
  • Homes & Kitchens
  • Office & Workplace Systems
  • Cafés & Restaurants
  • Well & Borehole Water Lines
  • Irrigation & Greenhouse Lines
  • Annual Filter Replacement
  • Service & Installation Engineers

05How It Works

How Does the 10 inch 5 Micron Spun Filter Work?

  1. Fitted into the Housing

The cartridge is fitted into the standard 10 inch housing at the first stage of the treatment system.

  2. Water Passes from Outside In

Water from the mains travels inwards from the cartridge’s outer surface through the fibre layers.

  3. Particles Are Captured in Stages

Coarse particles are held in the outer layer, fine particles in the progressively denser inner layers.

  4. Clear Water Continues On

Freed of sediment, the water reaches the carbon stages and the membrane far cleaner.

  5. Replaced When Saturated

When the cartridge fills with sediment the flow weakens; at that point it should be replaced with a new one.

06Making the Right Choice

5 Micron or 1 Micron?

When choosing the 10 inch 5 Micron Spun Filter, consider the housing size, the water quality and the stage layout.

Housing Size

This cartridge is for standard 10 inch housings; 20 inch or Big Blue housings take a different size.

Micron Rating

5 micron is a balanced choice for a first stage; 1 micron filters finer but fills more quickly.

Water Quality

If the sand and sediment load is high, adding a washable filter ahead of it reduces consumable costs.

Stage Layout

A carbon stage for chlorine and odour and a softening stage for hardness must be planned separately.

07Maintenance and Use

Replacement Notes

Replaced on time, the 10 inch 5 Micron Spun Filter protects the entire system.

  • This cartridge is not washable; once saturated it should not be cleaned but replaced with a new one.
  • Weakening flow and falling pressure are the first signs that replacement is due.
  • Before replacement, shut off the water line, release the pressure inside the housing and check the O-ring.
  • After fitting the new cartridge, run off the first water produced a few times to rinse the system.

08Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

What does the 10 inch 5 Micron Spun Filter do?
It holds back suspended solids such as sand, rust, silt and sediment. Working at the first stage of the treatment system, it clarifies the water and extends the life of the carbon stages and the membrane behind it.
Does it remove chlorine and limescale?
No. This is a mechanical sediment filter; it does not remove dissolved substances. Activated carbon is needed for chlorine, taste and odour; softening for hardness; and a reverse osmosis stage for salts and TDS.
Can it be washed and reused?
No. Spun cartridges are single use; sediment that penetrates the depth of the fibre cannot be washed out. If reuse is required, choose washable polyester or stainless mesh filters.
How often should it be replaced?
Replacement frequency depends on how dirty the water is and on daily consumption. Water with a high sediment load needs more frequent replacement, clean mains water less often; weakening flow is the most reliable indicator.
Is it compatible with my system?
It is compatible with common domestic and commercial systems that use a standard 10 inch filter housing. Before replacing, we recommend checking the length of your current cartridge and the size of your housing.

Installation and commissioning

Installation is a service · plumbing is the customer’s responsibility

The system is delivered ready to install; it only needs to be connected to the inlet and outlet lines. If valve setup is required, we provide free support over a video call. Installation and commissioning fall under our service work and are subject to a service fee. Plumbing labour and any pipes, valves and fittings are not included in the price; these items are the customer’s responsibility.

Warranty

Consumable

This product is classed as a consumable or spare part; because its life depends on use, it is not covered by warranty. Faulty or incorrectly shipped items are replaced — just get in touch with us.

Withdrawal and returns

Distance sales agreement

The right of withdrawal and the return terms are set out in detail in the distance sales agreement. Systems that have been installed and commissioned, and made-to-order products, are outside its scope.

How can we help?

Two different requests, two different forms.

The two forms ask different things: if we are building a new system we ask about your water and capacity; if your existing system needs service we ask for its brand and a photo.
