Big Blue · Large-Diameter Sediment Filter

Clear Water Throughout the House with the 10 inch 5 Micron Big Blue Cartridge Filter

The 10 inch 5 Micron Big Blue Cartridge Filter is a large-diameter polypropylene cartridge that holds back suspended solids such as sand, rust, silt and sediment that are not dissolved in the water. Thanks to the Big Blue body, it filters high-flow lines such as a building inlet while keeping pressure loss limited.

01Problem & Solution

A Slim Cartridge Is Not Enough on a Whole-House Line

Problem

Pressure Drops, the Filter Fills Quickly

At a building or villa inlet, all the water for the property passes through a single point. Narrow cartridges cannot keep up with that flow; pressure drops, the cartridge fills within a short time and the taps start running weakly.

Solution

Wide Body, Easy Flow

Thanks to its large diameter, the 10 inch 5 Micron Big Blue Cartridge Filter offers a far greater filtration surface. It does not restrict flow much at high throughput, holds more sediment and extends the replacement interval.

02Key Features

Large Diameter, High Flow

The 10 inch 5 Micron Big Blue Cartridge Filter is the first stage of whole-house filtration.

5 Micron Filtration

Holds back sand, rust, silt and turbidity-causing particles larger than 5 micron.

Big Blue Wide Body

The large diameter provides far greater sediment-holding capacity than standard cartridges.

Low Pressure Loss

Filters high-flow building inlet lines without restricting the flow significantly.

Polypropylene Construction

Food-contact grade polypropylene fibre filters without leaving any taste or odour in the water.

Protects the Installation

By holding sediment at the inlet, it protects taps, mixers, boilers and appliances from particles.

Standard Big Blue Compatibility

Compatible with common 10 inch Big Blue filter housings; it can be used regardless of brand.

04Applications

Where Is It Used?

The 10 inch 5 Micron Big Blue Cartridge Filter is used on high-flow main lines.

  • Building & Apartment Inlets
  • Villas & Detached Houses
  • Flat Main Lines
  • Well & Borehole Water Lines
  • Hotels & Housing Estates
  • Business & Workshop Lines
  • Irrigation & Garden Lines
  • Service & Installation Engineers

05How It Works

How Does the 10 inch 5 Micron Big Blue Cartridge Filter Work?

  1. Fitted into the Housing

The cartridge is fitted into the 10 inch Big Blue housing at the inlet of the main line.

  2. Water Passes from Outside In

Water from the main line travels inwards through the cartridge’s wide outer surface.

  3. Particles Are Held Back

Coarse particles are held in the outer layer, fine particles in the progressively denser inner layers.

  4. Clear Water Reaches the House

Freed of sediment, the water reaches the plumbing — and any further treatment stages — noticeably cleaner.

  5. Replaced When Saturated

When the cartridge fills with sediment the flow weakens; at that point it should be replaced with a new one.

06Making the Right Choice

Big Blue or Standard Cartridge?

When choosing the 10 inch 5 Micron Big Blue Cartridge Filter, consider the housing type, the flow rate and the water quality.

Housing Type

This cartridge fits Big Blue housings only; it cannot be used in standard slim housings.

Flow Requirement

Big Blue sizing is preferred at high-flow points such as a whole-house or building inlet.

Micron Rating

5 micron is a balanced choice for a first stage; finer filtration means more frequent replacement.

Stage Layout

A carbon stage for chlorine and odour and a softening stage for hardness must be planned separately.

07Maintenance and Use

Replacement Notes

Replaced on time, the 10 inch 5 Micron Big Blue Cartridge Filter protects the whole line.

  • This cartridge is not washable; once saturated it should not be cleaned but replaced with a new one.
  • Weakening flow at the taps is the first sign that the cartridge has filled.
  • Before replacement, close the main valve, release the pressure in the housing and check the large O-ring.
  • After fitting the new cartridge, run the line for a few minutes to rinse it and check for leaks.

08Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

What does the 10 inch 5 Micron Big Blue Cartridge Filter do?
It holds back suspended solids in the water such as sand, rust, silt and sediment. Its wide body lets it work on high-flow lines such as a building inlet, protecting the plumbing and the treatment stages from particles.
How does it differ from a standard 10 inch cartridge?
The difference is diameter. A Big Blue cartridge has a much wider body, which means higher flow, greater sediment-holding capacity and a longer replacement interval.
Will it fit a standard housing?
No. Big Blue cartridges fit Big Blue housings only. If you have a standard slim housing, choose a cartridge made for that diameter.
Does it remove chlorine and limescale?
No. This is a mechanical sediment filter; it does not remove dissolved substances. Activated carbon is needed for chlorine, taste and odour; softening for hardness; and a reverse osmosis stage for salts and TDS.
How often should it be replaced?
Replacement frequency depends on how dirty the water is and on the flow rate of the line. Lines with a high sediment load or fed from a well need more frequent replacement; weakening flow is the most reliable indicator.

Installation and commissioning

Installation is a service · plumbing is the customer’s responsibility

The system is delivered ready to install; it only needs to be connected to the inlet and outlet lines. If valve setup is required, we provide free support over a video call. Installation and commissioning fall under our service work and are subject to a service fee. Plumbing labour and any pipes, valves and fittings are not included in the price; these items are the customer’s responsibility.

Warranty

How can we help?

Two different requests, two different forms.

The two forms ask different things: if we are building a new system we ask about your water and capacity; if your existing system needs service we ask for its brand and a photo.
