The Service Position
In normal operation the valve passes water through the resin tank; calcium and magnesium are held on the resin.
It Steps In When the Time Comes
When the period set on the day dial is up, the valve starts the regeneration cycle itself.
Backwash
Water is fed in the reverse direction to lift the resin bed; the sediment collected is sent out through the drain line.
Brine Draw & Rinse
Brine drawn from the salt tank renews the resin; a slow rinse and a fast rinse follow.
Refilling the Salt Tank & Return to Service
Water is taken into the salt tank to prepare the next cycle and the valve returns to the service position.
