Pentek GS10-CAL/RO Alkaline Filter

The Pentek GS10-CAL/RO Alkaline Filter is an inline final-stage cartridge that raises the pH of water after reverse osmosis and remineralises it; its blend of calcite and coconut shell granular activated carbon brings the pH back towards neutral while markedly improving the taste.

01Problem & Solution

Why Does Treated Water Turn Acidic?

Problem

Low pH and a Flat Taste After RO

A reverse osmosis membrane holds back most of the minerals in the water as well. That can lower the pH and leave the water soft, acidic and flat on the palate.

Solution

Balancing pH with Calcite

The Pentek GS10-CAL/RO Alkaline Filter raises the pH towards neutral as calcite, a natural mineral, dissolves in the acidic water. At the same time the carbon stage improves taste and odour.

02Key Features

Balanced pH, Better Taste

The Pentek GS10-CAL/RO Alkaline Filter is designed to put the finishing touch to treated water.

pH Balancing

Calcite dissolves in acidic water and raises the pH towards neutral.

Remineralisation

Adding minerals back to soft, low-pH water restores its character.

Coconut Activated Carbon

Coconut shell granular activated carbon reduces any remaining traces of taste, odour and chlorine.

Better on the Palate

It markedly improves the taste of the water for making coffee, tea and other drinks.

Easy Inline Fitting

Fitted in the line, it integrates easily into existing reverse osmosis units.

Certified Manufacture

Made by Pentek, a long-established name in filtration, and NSF certified.

04Applications

Where Is It Used?

The Pentek GS10-CAL/RO Alkaline Filter is used wherever the pH and taste balance of treated water matters.

  • Reverse Osmosis Units
  • Homes
  • Offices
  • Coffee & Espresso Machines
  • Tea Machines
  • Cafés
  • Water Dispensers
  • Filter Renewal

05How It Works

How Does the Pentek GS10-CAL/RO Alkaline Filter Work?

  1. Fitting in the Line

The cartridge is fitted inline on the reverse osmosis unit’s outlet, between the tank and the tap.

  2. Treated Water Enters

The soft, low-pH water leaving the reverse osmosis unit is directed into the cartridge.

  3. The pH Rises on the Calcite

Calcite, a natural mineral, dissolves in the acidic water in a controlled way and raises the pH towards neutral.

  4. The Carbon’s Finishing Touch

The coconut activated carbon stage takes out any remaining traces of taste and odour, improving the water one last time.

  5. On to the Tap

The water, now pH-balanced and better tasting, goes to the tap; the cartridge is replaced at the end of its life.

06Making the Right Choice

What Determines the Right Cartridge

When choosing the Pentek GS10-CAL/RO Alkaline Filter, the connection size and its position in the system must be established correctly.

Connection Size

The connection type varies by model variant; your unit’s fitting size should be confirmed.

Position in the System

This is a final-stage cartridge and should be fitted at the reverse osmosis outlet, before the tap.

What You Expect of pH and Taste

If your treated water tastes flat or acidic, this calcite cartridge makes a clear difference.

How Heavily It Is Used

Heavy use shortens cartridge life, and a drop in flow is the clearest sign that it is time to change.

07Maintenance and Use

Notes That Keep It Performing

  • The cartridge should generally be changed every 3-6 months, and sooner than that if the flow drops noticeably.
  • Running the first water off for a while after a change is recommended, to flush out any fine dust in the cartridge.
  • Fit the cartridge the way the flow arrows indicate; fitted the wrong way round, it will not do what it should.
  • The connections should be checked for leaks, and fitting is best carried out by a technical service engineer.

08Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

What does the Pentek GS10-CAL/RO Alkaline Filter do?
It raises the pH of water after reverse osmosis and remineralises it. The calcite inside dissolves in the acidic water and brings the pH back towards neutral, while the coconut activated carbon takes out remaining traces of taste and odour to improve how the water drinks.
What is calcite and how does it work?
Calcite is a natural mineral. In contact with acidic water it dissolves in a controlled way and raises the pH towards neutral, balancing out the drop that reverse osmosis causes.
Does it treat water on its own?
No. This is a final-stage (post-filter) cartridge fitted at the outlet of a reverse osmosis system to improve the pH and taste of the treated water. The main treatment is done by the pre-filters and the membrane.
When is it changed?
It is generally changed every 3-6 months. The interval varies with water quality and how heavily the unit is used, and a noticeable drop in flow is another sign that it is time.
Will it fit my unit?
This 10″×2″ inline cartridge suits most reverse osmosis and under-sink systems. The connection type varies by model variant, though, so your unit’s fitting size should be confirmed in advance.

How can we help?

Two different requests, two different forms.

The two forms ask different things: if we are building a new system we ask about your water and capacity; if your existing system needs service we ask for its brand and a photo.
