06Making the Right Choice
Set Your Expectations Right
Used with the right expectations, the mineral filter shower head makes a clear difference to daily comfort.
The Real Target: Chlorine
This product acts mainly on chlorine and fine sediment, and that is how it improves shower comfort.
If Limescale Is the Problem
If limescale is affecting the plumbing and white goods too, the answer is a central water softener.
Drinking Water Is Separate
Drinking water needs a separate treatment unit in the kitchen; a shower head is no substitute for one.
Keeping the Cartridge Fresh
For the effect to continue the cartridge must be changed on time; a spent cartridge does nothing.
07Maintenance and Use
Notes That Keep It Performing
- The cartridge should be changed once it is spent; using it beyond that gives none of the expected benefit.
- The outlet holes in the head should be cleaned periodically; blocked holes drop the pressure.
- Check the hose washer when fitting; without it, the joint can drip.
- If the pressure drops noticeably, check the cartridge first and then the holes in the head.
08Frequently Asked Questions
Common Questions
What does the mineral filter shower head do?
It reduces the chlorine and fine sediment in your shower water through the mineral cartridge inside it. The drying effect of chlorine on skin and hair eases, the smell fades and the shower becomes a fresher experience.
Does it remove limescale?
No. A shower head cartridge does not remove hardness (limescale). If limescale is affecting the plumbing, the boiler and white goods too, the answer is a central water softener.
Is it difficult to install?
No. You simply unscrew your old shower head and screw the new one onto the hose by hand. It needs no plumbing work and no technical knowledge, and takes a few minutes.
When is the cartridge changed?
Cartridge life varies with the quality of the water, the chlorine level and how heavily the shower is used. For the effect to continue, replace it once it is spent.
Does it replace a drinking water unit?
No. This product is about shower comfort. Drinking water needs a separate treatment unit in the kitchen; the two serve different needs.
