Steady Valve Power with the Clack Valve Adaptor 15V

The Clack Valve Adaptor 15V is a plug-in wall adaptor that powers the electronic board and motor of Clack WS1 series control valves. It converts the mains power at the socket into the low-voltage direct current used by the valve electronics; its EU-type plug goes into the socket, while the white connector at the end of the cable connects to the valve’s control board.

01Problem & Solution

A Valve Without Power Cannot Run Its Wash Cycles

Problem

A Faulty or Incompatible Adaptor

In a Clack WS1 control valve, the electronic board decides when regeneration takes place, and it is also the board that runs the DC motor that moves the piston to the cycle positions. When the adaptor fails or an unsuitable power supply is used, the display goes blank, the programme does not run and the wash cycles do not start; the resin is not regenerated and the filter bed is not washed.

Solution

Power That Matches the Manufacturer’s Ratings

The Clack Valve Adaptor 15V powers the valve with the 15 V DC output voltage and 500 mA output current that Clack specifies for the WS1 series. The connector at the end of the cable seats in the power input on the board, and the valve carries on working with the settings held in its non-volatile memory.

02Key Features

The Right Voltage, a Practical Connection

The Clack Valve Adaptor 15V handles the power link between the mains and the valve board in a single part.

15 V DC Output

This is the supply voltage Clack specifies for WS1 family control valves.

500 mA Output Current

This is the current rating the manufacturer specifies for the control board, display and piston motor.

200–240 V Mains Compatibility

The input range of the international version covers the 230 V, 50 Hz mains supply in Türkiye.

EU-Type Wall Plug

The European-type plug fits wall sockets in Türkiye without needing any extra attachment.

Connector Straight to the Board

The cable is routed through the valve’s back plate; the connector on its end plugs into the four-pin power input on the control board.

Reset After Servicing

After the piston or drive assembly has been serviced, the connector is unplugged from the board and plugged back in; the board resets and re-establishes the piston’s service position.

05How It Works

How Does the Clack Valve Adaptor 15V Work?

  1. It Takes in Mains Voltage

When the adaptor is plugged into the socket, mains voltage reaches the power circuit in its housing through the plug.

  2. It Converts to Low Voltage

The power circuit converts mains voltage into the 15 V DC direct current used by the valve electronics.

  3. It Carries Power to the Board via the Cable

The low voltage reaches the control board’s four-pin power input through the connector at the end of the cable.

  4. The Board and Motor Run

The board manages the display and the programme; when the time comes, it drives the DC motor to move the piston to the wash and regeneration positions.

  5. Settings Stay in Non-Volatile Memory

When the adaptor is unplugged from the socket, the programme settings are kept in the board’s non-volatile memory; when power returns, the valve runs on the same programme.

06Making the Right Choice

Four Criteria for Choosing the Adaptor

When choosing the Clack Valve Adaptor 15V, the valve model, the label on the existing adaptor, the mains voltage and the installation location should be assessed together.

Valve Model

This power supply is specific to the Clack WS1 family; the model label on the valve cover should be read before choosing.

Existing Adaptor Label

The output rating and current type on the old adaptor’s label are the first details to compare with the new one; a photo of the label can be taken before the adaptor is removed.

Mains and Plug

If the valve was brought in from abroad, the input range and plug type of the adaptor supplied with it should be checked; on the mains supply in Türkiye, the EU-plug version is used.

Installation Location

The socket should be in a dry indoor space, close enough for the cable to reach the valve without being pulled taut.

07Maintenance and Use

Notes on the Socket, Cable and Connector

The notes below for the Clack Valve Adaptor 15V are based on the installation and maintenance warnings in the Clack service manual.

  • The adaptor must be used only in a dry location; it should not be plugged in at points exposed to splashing water, condensation or the open air.
  • It should not be plugged into a socket controlled by a light switch; electrical connections must comply with local regulations, and a socket with an uninterrupted supply should be chosen.
  • The adaptor should be unplugged from the socket before the valve cover is opened; the Clack manual defines unplugging the adaptor as the way to disconnect the valve from the mains.
  • The adaptor housing should not be opened; there are no user-serviceable parts inside. The cable should be protected against crushing and sharp edges, and the connector should be fitted to the board without being forced.

08Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

What does the Clack Valve Adaptor 15V do?
In a Clack WS1 valve, the display, the control board and the DC motor that moves the piston are fed from the board’s power input. This adaptor is the part that supplies power to that input; the valve’s regeneration decisions and piston movement depend on this supply.
Which Clack valves is it compatible with?
The Clack Valve Adaptor 15V provides the 15 V DC, 500 mA supply required in the data sheets of the WS1, WS1EI, WS1CI, WS1TC and WS1.25 valves. Because the power arrangement may differ in other Clack families, the valve’s model label should be checked.
Can I fit it in place of my old adaptor?
Yes, if the old adaptor’s label says 15 V DC and 500 mA. When replacing it, the adaptor is first unplugged from the socket, the old connector is removed from the input on the board, the new connector is seated fully in the same input, and the adaptor is plugged into the socket last. If the label shows a different value or an AC output, compatibility with the board should be confirmed beforehand.
How does it differ from the US-plug Clack adaptor?
In Clack’s data sheets, the US version is specified with a 100–120 V AC input and the international version with a 200–240 V AC input; the output ratings of the two versions are the same. The input range of the US version does not cover the 230 V mains supply in Türkiye, and a plug adapter does not overcome this difference. The Clack Valve Adaptor 15V, with its EU plug and international input range, is suited to this mains supply.
If the display does not light up, is the adaptor at fault?
According to the troubleshooting table in the Clack service manual, if the display is blank, the first checks are whether there is power at the socket, whether a fuse or residual current device has tripped, whether the adaptor is plugged into the socket and the connector into the board, and whether the correct voltage is reaching the board. If all of these are in order and the display still does not light up, the adaptor is replaced; if the problem persists, the board is inspected.
