Sediment Filter · Industrial Length
The 40 inch 5 Micron Spun Filter is an industrial-length polypropylene cartridge that holds back suspended solids such as sand, rust, silt and sediment. Its large filtration surface gives long service on high-flow lines and protects the stages behind it from the sediment load.
01Problem & Solution
Problem
On high-flow industrial lines, short cartridges fill quickly. Frequent replacement halts production and raises labour and consumable costs, while a clogged filter causes pressure loss and lets sediment through.
Solution
The 40 inch 5 Micron Spun Filter is the highest-capacity of the standard cartridge sizes. It holds more sediment, the replacement interval lengthens, and the line keeps running without interruption.
02Key Features
The 40 inch 5 Micron Spun Filter is the first line of defence on an industrial line.
Holds back sand, rust, silt and turbidity-causing particles larger than 5 micron.
A 40 inch body can accumulate far more sediment than shorter cartridges.
Food-contact grade polypropylene fibre filters without leaving any taste or odour in the water.
The large surface area filters without restricting the flow significantly, even at high throughput.
Capacity can be increased by running several cartridges together in industrial housings.
By holding coarse dirt at the front, it extends the life of the carbon stages and the membranes.
03Technical Specifications
| Feature | Value | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Product Type | Sediment Filter | Which family the unit belongs to. Products in the same family can be used in place of one another. |
| Size | 40 inch (40") | The physical size. If a spare does not match this, it will not go into the housing. |
| Micron Rating | 5 Micron | The smallest particle the filter holds back. The lower the figure, the finer the sediment it catches. |
| Material | Polypropylene Fibre (Spun) | What it is made of. A metal body is preferred on a pressurised line, plastic on a chemical one. |
| Stage | Stage 1 (Pre-Filter) | The number of treatment stages. Each stage takes out a different kind of contamination. |
| Compatibility | 40" Filter Housings | Which units and housings it works with. Compare it with yours before ordering. |
04Applications
The 40 inch 5 Micron Spun Filter is used on industrial-scale treatment lines.
05How It Works
The cartridge is fitted into the single or multi-cartridge 40 inch housing at the first stage of the line.
Water from the line travels inwards from the cartridge’s outer surface through the fibre layers.
Coarse particles are held in the outer layer, fine particles in the progressively denser inner layers.
Freed of sediment, the water reaches the carbon stages and the membrane line far cleaner.
When the inlet–outlet pressure differential rises, the cartridge is saturated; that is when it is replaced.
06Making the Right Choice
When choosing the 40 inch 5 Micron Spun Filter, consider the housing size, the flow rate and the number of cartridges together.
This cartridge is for 40 inch housings; shorter housings take 10, 20 or 30 inch cartridges.
As flow rises, a longer cartridge or several cartridges together become necessary.
5 micron is a balanced choice for a first stage; finer filtration means more frequent replacement.
The cartridge end configuration (flat or with adaptor) must match how the housing seats it.
07Maintenance and Use
With regular monitoring, the 40 inch 5 Micron Spun Filter keeps the line running without interruption.

The system is delivered ready to install; it only needs to be connected to the inlet and outlet lines. If valve setup is required, we provide free support over a video call. Installation and commissioning fall under our service work and are subject to a service fee. Plumbing labour and any pipes, valves and fittings are not included in the price; these items are the customer’s responsibility.
This product is classed as a consumable or spare part; because its life depends on use, it is not covered by warranty. Faulty or incorrectly shipped items are replaced — just get in touch with us.
The right of withdrawal and the return terms are set out in detail in the distance sales agreement. Systems that have been installed and commissioned, and made-to-order products, are outside its scope.
