Industrial Pre-Filtration with the 30 inch 5 Micron Spun Filter

The 30 inch 5 Micron Spun Filter is an industrial-size polypropylene cartridge that holds back suspended solids such as sand, rust, silt and sediment. Its large filtration surface gives long service on high-flow lines and protects the stages behind it from the sediment load.

01Problem & Solution

On an Industrial Line, Frequent Replacement Costs Time

Problem

A Small Cartridge Means Constant Downtime

On high-flow industrial lines, short cartridges fill quickly. Frequent replacement halts production and raises labour and consumable costs, while a clogged filter causes pressure loss and lets sediment through.

Solution

Large Capacity, Less Downtime

With its long body the 30 inch 5 Micron Spun Filter holds far more sediment. The replacement interval lengthens, pressure loss stays limited and the line keeps running without interruption.

02Key Features

High Capacity, Steady Flow

The 30 inch 5 Micron Spun Filter is the first line of defence on an industrial line.

5 Micron Filtration

Holds back sand, rust, silt and turbidity-causing particles larger than 5 micron.

High Holding Capacity

A 30 inch body can accumulate far more sediment than shorter cartridges.

Polypropylene Construction

Food-contact grade polypropylene fibre filters without leaving any taste or odour in the water.

Low Pressure Loss

The large surface area filters without restricting the flow significantly, even at high throughput.

Multi-Cartridge Compatibility

Capacity can be increased by running several cartridges together in industrial housings.

Protects the System

By holding coarse dirt at the front, it extends the life of the carbon stages and the membranes.

04Applications

Where Is It Used?

The 30 inch 5 Micron Spun Filter is used on industrial-scale treatment lines.

  • Industrial RO Plants
  • Production & Process Lines
  • Hotels & Housing Estates
  • Well & Borehole Water Lines
  • Food & Beverage Industry
  • Irrigation & Greenhouse Lines
  • Multi-Cartridge Systems
  • Service & Maintenance Teams

05How It Works

How Does the 30 inch 5 Micron Spun Filter Work?

  1. Fitted into the Housing

The cartridge is fitted into the single or multi-cartridge 30 inch housing at the first stage of the line.

  2. Water Passes from Outside In

Water from the line travels inwards from the cartridge’s outer surface through the fibre layers.

  3. Particles Are Captured in Stages

Coarse particles are held in the outer layer, fine particles in the progressively denser inner layers.

  4. Clear Water Continues On

Freed of sediment, the water reaches the carbon stages and the membrane line far cleaner.

  5. The Pressure Differential Is Watched

When the inlet–outlet pressure differential rises, the cartridge is saturated; that is when it is replaced.

06Making the Right Choice

30 inch or 20 inch?

When choosing the 30 inch 5 Micron Spun Filter, consider the housing size, the flow rate and the number of cartridges together.

Housing Size

This cartridge is for 30 inch housings; 10 and 20 inch housings take shorter cartridges.

Line Flow Rate

As flow rises, a longer cartridge or several cartridges together become necessary.

Micron Rating

5 micron is a balanced choice for a first stage; finer filtration means more frequent replacement.

End Type

The cartridge end configuration (flat or with adaptor) must match how the housing seats it.

07Maintenance and Use

Replacement Notes

With regular monitoring, the 30 inch 5 Micron Spun Filter keeps the line running without interruption.

  • This cartridge is not washable; once saturated it should not be cleaned but replaced with a new one.
  • Watch the inlet–outlet pressure differential regularly; a marked rise signals that replacement is due.
  • In multi-cartridge housings all cartridges should be replaced together; mixing old and new lowers efficiency.
  • Before replacement, shut off the line, release the pressure in the housing and check the condition of the gasket.

08Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

What does the 30 inch 5 Micron Spun Filter do?
It holds back suspended solids such as sand, rust, silt and sediment. Its industrial-size body provides pre-filtration on high-flow lines and extends the life of the stages behind it.
How does it differ from a 20 inch cartridge?
The difference is length. A 30 inch cartridge offers a larger filtration surface and greater sediment-holding capacity, which means a longer replacement interval on high-flow lines.
Can it be used in multi-cartridge housings?
Yes. In industrial housings several cartridges work together to raise system capacity. The number of cartridges is set by the flow requirement of the line.
Does it remove chlorine and limescale?
No. This is a mechanical sediment filter; it does not remove dissolved substances. Activated carbon is needed for chlorine, taste and odour; softening for hardness; and a reverse osmosis stage for salts and TDS.
When should it be replaced?
A rise in the inlet–outlet pressure differential and a fall in flow are the most reliable indicators. The interval depends on how dirty the water is and on the flow rate of the line, and it shortens where the sediment load is heavy.

Installation and commissioning

Installation is a service · plumbing is the customer’s responsibility

The system is delivered ready to install; it only needs to be connected to the inlet and outlet lines. If valve setup is required, we provide free support over a video call. Installation and commissioning fall under our service work and are subject to a service fee. Plumbing labour and any pipes, valves and fittings are not included in the price; these items are the customer’s responsibility.

Warranty

Consumable

This product is classed as a consumable or spare part; because its life depends on use, it is not covered by warranty. Faulty or incorrectly shipped items are replaced — just get in touch with us.

Withdrawal and returns

Distance sales agreement

The right of withdrawal and the return terms are set out in detail in the distance sales agreement. Systems that have been installed and commissioned, and made-to-order products, are outside its scope.

How can we help?

Two different requests, two different forms.

The two forms ask different things: if we are building a new system we ask about your water and capacity; if your existing system needs service we ask for its brand and a photo.
