STAR LP8040 RO Membrane

The STAR LP8040 RO Membrane is an 8″×40″ low-pressure (LP) series brackish water membrane for industrial reverse osmosis systems; its thin-film composite structure lets it work at a lower feed pressure while delivering high salt rejection, cutting pump energy and running costs.

01Problem & Solution

Pressure Decides the Bill

Problem

High Pressure, High Energy

The largest running cost in a reverse osmosis system is the energy of the high-pressure pump that drives water through the membrane. High pressure also puts a constant load on the pump, the pipework and the seals.

Solution

High Output at Low Pressure

As a low-pressure (LP) series element, the STAR LP8040 RO Membrane works at a lower feed pressure than a standard membrane. Energy consumption falls and so does the load on the equipment.

02Key Features

An Energy-Efficient Industrial Membrane

The STAR LP8040 RO Membrane brings output and energy saving together in industrial-scale treatment.

Low Pressure (LP) Series

Working at a lower feed pressure than standard membranes cuts pump energy.

High Salt Rejection

It separates dissolved salts, heavy metals and ionic contaminants from the water at a high rate.

Thin-Film Composite Construction

A polyamide thin-film composite layer in a spiral-wound body gives steady performance.

Standard 8″ Fit

It fits standard 8″×40″ pressure vessels and integrates easily into existing industrial systems.

It Extends Equipment Life

A lower working pressure eases the load on the pump, the pipework and the seals, reducing the risk of failure.

Many Uses

It is widely used in industrial process water, drinking water plants and pure water systems.

04Applications

Where Is It Used?

The STAR LP8040 RO Membrane is used in industrial-scale reverse osmosis systems.

  • Industrial Process Water
  • Drinking Water Plants
  • Pure Water Systems
  • Boiler Feed Water
  • Factories
  • Well Water Systems
  • Food & Beverage Plants
  • Membrane Replacement

05How It Works

How Does the STAR LP8040 RO Membrane Work?

  1. Pre-Treatment and Chlorine Removal

Raw water passes through the sand and carbon stages; sediment and chlorine are removed and the membrane protected.

  2. Pressurised Feed

The pump pressurises the water, and because this is the LP series a lower pressure than usual is enough.

  3. Salt Separation at the Membrane

The polyamide thin-film layer lets water through while holding back the great majority of dissolved salts and ions.

  4. Permeate and Concentrate Outlets

The treated water goes to the process and the high-salinity concentrate is discharged through a separate line.

  5. Cleaning and Replacement

When output falls the membrane is cleaned chemically, and at the end of its life it is replaced.

06Making the Right Choice

What Decides the Right Membrane

When choosing the STAR LP8040 RO Membrane, water type, capacity and system compatibility must be assessed correctly.

Water Type

This membrane is for brackish water; very high salinity such as seawater calls for the SW series.

Energy as a Priority

In plants where the electricity bill is critical, the low-pressure (LP) series is a clear advantage.

Capacity Requirement

The daily treated water requirement directly determines how many membrane elements are needed.

Housing and Pre-Treatment

A standard 8″ pressure vessel and pre-treatment that removes chlorine are essential to the membrane’s output.

07Maintenance and Use

Notes That Extend Its Life

  • Free chlorine damages the membrane permanently; chlorine must be removed by a carbon filter ahead of it.
  • In high hardness, softening or antiscalant dosing should be used to prevent scaling.
  • Permeate conductivity and differential pressure should be monitored; deviations give the chance to act early.
  • The membrane should be kept wet, a preservative solution used during long shutdowns, and replacement carried out by a technical service engineer.

08Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

What does the STAR LP8040 RO Membrane do?
It is an 8″×40″ brackish water membrane that removes dissolved salts, heavy metals and ionic contaminants from water in industrial reverse osmosis systems. Being a low-pressure element, it works on less energy.
What does “LP” mean?
LP stands for the Low Pressure series. Because these membranes can work at a lower feed pressure than standard ones, pump energy and the electricity bill fall, and so does the load on the equipment.
What does “8040” mean?
8040 is the standard industrial size of the element: 8 inches in diameter and 40 inches long. It fits standard 8″ pressure vessels made of stainless steel, PVC or FRP.
Can it be used on seawater?
No. The LP8040 is a brackish water membrane. Seawater involves far higher salinity and far higher pressure; those applications call for the seawater (SW) series.
Is it sensitive to chlorine?
Yes. Free chlorine and oxidising agents damage the membrane permanently. Chlorine must therefore be removed by an activated carbon filter ahead of it, and in high hardness precautions should also be taken against scaling.

Delivery

Across Türkiye · 1–3 business days

Products in stock ship free anywhere in Türkiye and arrive within 1–3 business days. Items not in stock are supplied to order — the lead time is confirmed to you when the order is approved.

Installation and commissioning

Installation is a service · plumbing is the customer’s responsibility

The system is delivered ready to install; it only needs to be connected to the inlet and outlet lines. If valve setup is required, we provide free support over a video call. Installation and commissioning fall under our service work and are subject to a service fee. Plumbing labour and any pipes, valves and fittings are not included in the price; these items are the customer’s responsibility.

Warranty

2 years · manufacturer

The system is covered by a 2-year manufacturer warranty. During the warranty period, labour and parts are free for faults arising from manufacture or installation. Consumables such as filters, membranes and resin are outside warranty cover — they are replaced when their service life ends; they do not fail.

Withdrawal and returns

Distance sales agreement

The right of withdrawal and the return terms are set out in detail in the distance sales agreement. Systems that have been installed and commissioned, and made-to-order products, are outside its scope.

Cancellation and return terms

How can we help?

Two different requests, two different forms.

The two forms ask different things: if we are building a new system we ask about your water and capacity; if your existing system needs service we ask for its brand and a photo.
