Chlorine and Odour Treatment with the Industrial Activated Carbon Unit

The Industrial Activated Carbon Unit removes chlorine, off-taste, odour, colour and organic contaminants from water by adsorption onto activated carbon in high-capacity plants, with automatic backwashing; its self-cleaning design keeps maintenance low and protects the treatment equipment downstream.

01Problem & Solution

Chlorine and Odour Disrupt the Process

Problem

Chlorine, Odour and Organic Load

Chlorine, off-taste and odour, colour and organic contaminants in mains or well water lower water quality and damage the membranes and resin systems downstream, shortening their life.

Solution

High-Capacity Carbon Adsorption

The Industrial Activated Carbon Unit adsorbs chlorine, odour, colour and organic matter onto the wide pore surface of activated carbon. Automatic backwashing refreshes it and protects the equipment downstream.

02Key Features

High Capacity, Automatic Operation

The Industrial Activated Carbon Unit is designed for continuous, low-maintenance operation in high-flow plants.

Chlorine Removal

Adsorbing chlorine and chlorine compounds protects the membranes and resin downstream from chlorine damage.

Taste, Odour and Colour Removal

It clears off-taste, odour and colour problems, leaving the water clear and pleasant to drink.

Automatic Backwash

At set intervals it backwashes itself, flushing out accumulated contamination and refreshing the carbon bed.

Chemical-Free Cleaning

No extra chemicals are needed for backwashing; the system cleans itself with water alone, keeping running costs low.

High-Capacity Vessel

An industrial-capacity vessel makes it a durable solution for long-term, continuous use.

System Protection

As a pre-treatment stage it extends the life of membranes, resin and softeners and improves plant efficiency.

04Applications

Where Is It Used?

The Industrial Activated Carbon Unit is ideal for high-capacity plants that need chlorine and organic load removed.

  • Factories
  • Hotels & Housing Estates
  • Hospitals
  • Food & Beverage Plants
  • RO Pre-Treatment
  • Well Water Systems
  • Central Water Lines
  • Industrial Process Water

05How It Works

How Does the Industrial Activated Carbon Unit Work?

  1. Water Enters the Carbon Bed

Raw water is directed into the activated carbon bed inside the vessel and begins to travel downwards through it.

  2. Adsorption

The wide pore surface of the carbon captures chlorine, odour, colour and organic molecules, leaving the water clear.

  3. The Treated Water Leaves

Cleared of chlorine and odour, the water leaves the unit’s outlet for the next treatment stage or the line.

  4. Automatic Backwash

At the set interval the valve reverses the flow, flushing the contamination collected in the carbon bed to drain.

  5. Return to Service

When the backwash is complete the unit returns automatically to service and treatment continues without interruption.

06Making the Right Choice

What Decides the Right Unit

When choosing the Industrial Activated Carbon Unit, flow rate, water analysis and valve type must be assessed correctly.

Hourly Flow Rate

The plant’s hourly flow rate directly determines vessel size and the quantity of carbon needed.

Water Analysis

Chlorine, organic load and contamination level affect the type of carbon and how often it is changed.

Valve Type

Whether it is time-controlled or flow-controlled is chosen according to usage pattern and economy.

Position in the System

Placing it as pre-treatment ahead of RO or a softener protects the equipment that follows.

07Maintenance and Use

Notes That Keep It Performing

  • The activated carbon must be renewed when it loses its adsorption capacity, generally once a year; the interval varies with water quality.
  • The automatic backwash must run regularly, and the drain line and valve settings should be checked periodically.
  • Because carbon holds organic matter, the carbon bed should be checked in systems left unused for a long period.
  • Installation and commissioning are best carried out by a technical service engineer; it matters for correct flow and valve settings.

08Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

What does the Industrial Activated Carbon Unit do?
In high-capacity plants it removes chlorine, off-taste, odour, colour and organic contaminants from water by adsorption onto activated carbon. It cleans itself by automatic backwash and protects downstream equipment such as membranes and resin.
Does it remove limescale (hardness)?
No. Activated carbon removes chlorine, odour, colour and organic contaminants but not hardness (limescale) or dissolved salts. Hardness calls for water softening and salts for reverse osmosis.
Are chemicals needed for backwashing?
No. No extra chemicals are needed for backwashing; the system uses water alone to clean itself. That keeps running costs down and makes it practical to use.
When is the carbon changed?
The activated carbon must be renewed when it loses its adsorption capacity, which is generally once a year. The exact interval depends on the chlorine and organic load of the incoming water and how heavily the unit is used.
Why is it used ahead of RO?
Chlorine damages a reverse osmosis membrane permanently. By removing it, the Industrial Activated Carbon Unit protects the membrane and, as pre-treatment, extends the life of everything downstream.

Delivery

Across Türkiye · 1–3 business days

Products in stock ship free anywhere in Türkiye and arrive within 1–3 business days. Items not in stock are supplied to order — the lead time is confirmed to you when the order is approved.

Installation and commissioning

Installation is a service · plumbing is the customer’s responsibility

The system is delivered ready to install; it only needs to be connected to the inlet and outlet lines. If valve setup is required, we provide free support over a video call. Installation and commissioning fall under our service work and are subject to a service fee. Plumbing labour and any pipes, valves and fittings are not included in the price; these items are the customer’s responsibility.

Warranty

2 years · manufacturer

The system is covered by a 2-year manufacturer warranty. During the warranty period, labour and parts are free for faults arising from manufacture or installation. Consumables such as filters, membranes and resin are outside warranty cover — they are replaced when their service life ends; they do not fail.

Withdrawal and returns

Distance sales agreement

The right of withdrawal and the return terms are set out in detail in the distance sales agreement. Systems that have been installed and commissioned, and made-to-order products, are outside its scope.

Cancellation and return terms

How can we help?

Two different requests, two different forms.

The two forms ask different things: if we are building a new system we ask about your water and capacity; if your existing system needs service we ask for its brand and a photo.
