01Problem & Solution

Hard Water Damages Plumbing

Problem

Limescale Builds Up Everywhere

Hard water leaves limescale in pipework, boilers, water heaters, washing machines and dishwashers. That shortens appliance life, pushes energy use up and causes breakdowns.

Solution

Smart, Automatic Softening

The Flow-Controlled Water Softener captures hardness minerals in resin to soften the water and keep limescale out of the plumbing. Because it regenerates on consumption, it is both economical and fully automatic.

02Key Features

Smart, Economical, Automatic

The Flow-Controlled Water Softener is designed around fully automatic operation for efficient, effortless limescale control.

Flow-Controlled Regeneration

Washing on actual water consumption prevents wasted regeneration and saves both salt and water.

Limescale Removal

Captures calcium and magnesium to soften the water and protect plumbing and appliances from limescale damage.

Fully Automatic Operation

Manages the service and regeneration stages automatically, with no constant attention needed.

Protection for Plumbing and Appliances

Preserves the life and efficiency of boilers, water heaters, washing machines and dishwashers.

The Comfort of Softer Water

Soft water is gentler on skin and hair and cuts the amount of detergent needed.

A Range of Capacities

Available in different flow rates and capacities, from domestic to commercial scale.

03Technical Specifications

System Details

Feature Value What it does
Unit Type Water Softening Where it is installed and how it produces water. An under-counter domestic unit and a commercial one do not run on the same line.
Control Flow-Controlled (Volumetric) How the unit is managed. Automatic control needs no daily attention.
Operation Fully Automatic How the unit runs. Pumped models keep producing even when mains pressure is low.
Treatment Method Ion Exchange (Resin)
Resin Quantity 50 Litres
Regeneration Salt (Brine) How the resin is regenerated. This is where salt consumption comes from.
Capacity By Model How much water the unit can handle. Choosing above your need does not strain it; choosing below it does.
Weight 60 kg Product weight. For wall mounting, the supporting surface is chosen accordingly.
Dimensions 20 × 35 × 160 cm The outer dimensions of the unit. The cabinet or plant room has to be wider than this.

05How It Works

How Does the Flow-Controlled Water Softener Work?

  1. Through the Resin (Softening)

Hard water passes through the resin tank; the cationic resin captures calcium and magnesium and softens the water.

  2. Flow Metering

The unit meters the water passing through and tracks the softening capacity left, based on hardness and resin quantity.

  3. The Regeneration Decision

Once the set consumption is reached the unit starts regeneration automatically, usually timed for an hour when water use is low.

  4. Renewal with Brine

The unit draws brine from the salt tank to renew the resin and sends the captured hardness minerals to drain.

  5. Return to Service

When renewal is complete the unit returns automatically to the softening position and the cycle begins again.

06Making the Right Choice

What Decides the Right Unit

When choosing the Flow-Controlled Water Softener, hardness, flow rate and how heavily it will be used must be assessed correctly.

Water Hardness

The hardness of the water determines how much resin is needed and how often regeneration occurs.

Flow Rate and Number of People

Peak flow and the number of users determine the unit’s capacity and tank size.

How Critical Is Continuity

If soft water is essential during regeneration too, a twin-tank system should be considered.

Installation Space

Space for the resin and brine tanks and a drain connection should be assessed before installation.

07Maintenance and Use

Notes That Keep It Performing

  • There must always be enough salt in the brine tank; when the salt runs out the resin cannot be renewed and the water turns hard again.
  • Hardness and flow settings must be made correctly from a water analysis; incorrect settings lead either to wasted salt or to hard water.
  • The brine tank should be cleaned periodically; salt bridging and sediment build-up can reduce regeneration efficiency.
  • Softened water is not drinking water; a separate reverse osmosis unit is recommended for drinking.

08Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

What does the Flow-Controlled Water Softener do?
It softens water by capturing hardness minerals such as calcium and magnesium in resin. By keeping limescale out of pipework, boilers and white goods it extends their life and improves their efficiency.
What does flow control gain you?
The unit regenerates on actual water consumption rather than on a calendar. Because it washes only when the set consumption is reached, there is no unnecessary regeneration, and that saves salt and water.
Can softened water be drunk?
A softener removes hardness but it is not a drinking water treatment unit. Drinking water calls for a reverse osmosis unit; a softener is often used ahead of the RO as a stage that protects it from limescale.
How often is salt added?
Salt consumption depends on the hardness of the water, how heavily the system is used and how often it regenerates. The level in the brine tank should be checked regularly and topped up as it falls; with no salt, the water cannot be softened.
Is the water cut off during regeneration?
In single-tank systems hard water may be delivered briefly during regeneration, which is why it is usually timed for hours when water use is low. Where soft water must be uninterrupted, a twin-tank system should be chosen.

Installation and commissioning

Installation is a service · plumbing is the customer’s responsibility

The system is delivered ready to install; it only needs to be connected to the inlet and outlet lines. If valve setup is required, we provide free support over a video call. Installation and commissioning fall under our service work and are subject to a service fee. Plumbing labour and any pipes, valves and fittings are not included in the price; these items are the customer’s responsibility.

Warranty

2 years · manufacturer

The system is covered by a 2-year manufacturer warranty. During the warranty period, labour and parts are free for faults arising from manufacture or installation. Consumables such as filters, membranes and resin are outside warranty cover — they are replaced when their service life ends; they do not fail.

Withdrawal and returns

Distance sales agreement

The right of withdrawal and the return terms are set out in detail in the distance sales agreement. Systems that have been installed and commissioned, and made-to-order products, are outside its scope.

Cancellation and return terms

How can we help?

Two different requests, two different forms.

The two forms ask different things: if we are building a new system we ask about your water and capacity; if your existing system needs service we ask for its brand and a photo.
