1812 RO Membrane Filter

The 1812 RO Membrane Filter is the semi-permeable membrane at the heart of domestic and office under-sink reverse osmosis units; separating out the dissolved salts, heavy metals and fine contaminants in the water, it carries out the most critical stage of treatment, and its standard 1812 size fits most domestic units.

01Problem & Solution

When the Membrane Tires, the Treatment Stops

Problem

People Assume the Filters Are Enough

Pre-filters capture only sediment, chlorine and odour; they cannot remove dissolved salts and heavy metals. When the membrane tires the unit carries on running, but the quality of the treatment falls and the taste and TDS of the water go with it.

Solution

Renew the Membrane on Time

The 1812 RO Membrane Filter is the stage that does the unit’s real work. Renewed, the water quality and the rate of production return to what they were on day one.

02Key Features

The Stage That Does the Real Work

The 1812 RO Membrane Filter is designed to deliver the highest level of treatment in a domestic unit.

A Semi-Permeable Structure

It lets water through while holding back the great majority of dissolved salts, heavy metals and fine contaminants.

Standard 1812 Size

At 1.8 inches in diameter and 12 inches long it fits the great majority of domestic and office units.

Heavy Metal Removal

It separates out the heavy metals and dissolved matter that pre-filters cannot remove.

It Brings the Water Quality Back

Renewed, the taste, the clarity and the TDS of the water return to where they were on day one.

Easy Replacement

It is changed easily by withdrawing it from the membrane housing and fitting a new one.

A Range of Capacities

It is made in different GPD ratings, and the one matching your unit’s capacity should be chosen.

03Technical Specifications

Membrane Specifications

Feature Value What it does
Product Type RO Membrane Filter Which family the unit belongs to. Products in the same family can be used in place of one another.
Size 1812 (1.8" × 12") The physical size. If a spare does not match this, it will not go into the housing.
Technology Reverse Osmosis The treatment technology used. Reverse osmosis takes out salts and heavy metals; carbon takes out taste and odour.
Construction Semi-Permeable Film How the unit is put together. A compact cabinet takes little room; an open system makes servicing easier.
Its Place in the System After the Pre-Filters
Use Domestic · Office RO What setting it was designed for. A domestic unit will not carry a commercial load.
Weight 1 kg Product weight. For wall mounting, the supporting surface is chosen accordingly.
Dimensions 5 × 5 × 20 cm The outer dimensions of the unit. The cabinet or plant room has to be wider than this.

04Applications

Where Is It Used?

The 1812 RO Membrane Filter is used in every under-sink reverse osmosis unit.

  • Domestic RO Systems
  • Under-Sink Units
  • Pumped Units
  • Pump-Free Units
  • Offices
  • Filtered Water Dispensers
  • Small Businesses
  • Membrane Replacement

05How It Works

How Does the 1812 RO Membrane Filter Work?

  1. Through the Pre-Filters

The water passes first through the sediment and carbon filters, which capture coarse sediment and chlorine and protect the membrane.

  2. Into the Membrane Under Pressure

Under mains pressure or with the help of a pump, the water is delivered into the housing holding the membrane.

  3. Through the Semi-Permeable Film

The water molecules pass through the film while dissolved salts, heavy metals and fine contaminants stay behind.

  4. Treated Water and Reject Separate

The treated water goes to the tank, and the reject carrying the contamination is discharged to drain through a separate line.

  5. Renewal When It Tires

When the membrane tires, production slows and water quality falls; it should be replaced.

06Making the Right Choice

What Decides the Right Membrane

When choosing the 1812 RO Membrane Filter, unit compatibility and capacity must be assessed correctly.

Unit Capacity (GPD)

The membrane’s GPD rating must match the capacity your unit was designed for.

Housing Compatibility

1812 is the standard size, and your membrane housing should be confirmed as suiting it.

Mains Pressure

On pump-free units low pressure slows production, and a pumped model is then the better choice.

The State of the Pre-Filters

The pre-filters should be changed when a new membrane is fitted, or the membrane wears out quickly.

07Maintenance and Use

Notes That Extend Its Life

  • The pre-filters should be changed on time; a spent carbon filter cannot hold the chlorine back and the membrane is permanently damaged.
  • Watch the flow arrows when changing the membrane; fitted the wrong way round, it treats nothing.
  • The first tankful after a change should be emptied, flushing out manufacturing residue and fine dust.
  • In units left unused for a long time the membrane must not dry out; staying wet inside the housing preserves its life.

08Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

What does the 1812 RO Membrane Filter do?
It is the stage that does the real treating in domestic and office reverse osmosis units. Its semi-permeable structure separates out the great majority of the dissolved salts, heavy metals and fine contaminants in the water.
What does “1812” mean?
1812 is the element’s standard size: roughly 1.8 inches in diameter and 12 inches long. It is the standard membrane size used in the great majority of domestic and office under-sink units.
How does it differ from the pre-filters?
Pre-filters capture only sediment, chlorine, off-taste and odour. The membrane separates out dissolved salts and heavy metals; that is where the real treatment happens. The pre-filters are the membrane’s protection, and the membrane is the heart of the unit.
When is it changed?
Membrane life depends on the quality of the incoming water, how heavily the unit is used and whether the pre-filters have been changed on time. A marked drop in production, or a change in the taste and TDS of the water, shows that it is time.
Which GPD rating should I choose?
1812 membranes are made in different GPD (daily output) ratings. The rating you choose must match the capacity your unit was designed for, so your unit’s model needs to be known.

Installation and commissioning

Installation is a service · plumbing is the customer’s responsibility

The system is delivered ready to install; it only needs to be connected to the inlet and outlet lines. If valve setup is required, we provide free support over a video call. Installation and commissioning fall under our service work and are subject to a service fee. Plumbing labour and any pipes, valves and fittings are not included in the price; these items are the customer’s responsibility.

Warranty

Consumable

This product is classed as a consumable or spare part; because its life depends on use, it is not covered by warranty. Faulty or incorrectly shipped items are replaced — just get in touch with us.

Withdrawal and returns

Distance sales agreement

The right of withdrawal and the return terms are set out in detail in the distance sales agreement. Systems that have been installed and commissioned, and made-to-order products, are outside its scope.

Cancellation and return terms

How can we help?

Two different requests, two different forms.

The two forms ask different things: if we are building a new system we ask about your water and capacity; if your existing system needs service we ask for its brand and a photo.
