Liquid Caustic Soda

Liquid caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) is a strong base used in water treatment systems to raise the pH of acidic water, to regenerate the anion resin in deionised systems and in the chemical cleaning of membranes; dosed correctly it plays a critical part in balancing the water and preserving the system’s efficiency.

01Problem & Solution

Acidic Water Eats a System Away

Problem

Low pH and Saturated Resin

Acidic water corrodes pipes and metal equipment. In deionised systems the anion resin becomes saturated with ions over time; conductivity rises and pure water production stops.

Solution

A Controlled Dose of Base

As a strong base, liquid caustic soda neutralises acidic water and raises the pH. It also regenerates the anion resin, restoring a deionised system’s capacity.

02Key Features

A Strong Base with Several Uses

Liquid caustic soda is one of the basic chemicals in a water treatment plant, taking on more than one critical role.

Raising the pH

Raising the pH of acidic water in a controlled way gives well-balanced water.

Anion Resin Regeneration

Renewing the saturated anion resin in a deionised system restores its pure water production capacity.

Chemical Cleaning of Membranes

A high pH helps lift organic and biological fouling off the membrane surface.

Corrosion Control

It helps reduce the risk of corrosion that acidic water creates in pipes and metal equipment.

Wastewater Neutralisation

It is used to neutralise acidic wastewater before discharge.

Used with a Dosing Pump

Delivered into the system through a dosing pump, under control and continuously, it can be set precisely.

04Applications

Where Is It Used?

Liquid caustic soda is used in water treatment plants that need pH control and regeneration.

  • Deionised Pure Water Systems
  • pH Neutralisation Units
  • Reverse Osmosis Cleaning (CIP)
  • Wastewater Treatment Plants
  • Factories
  • Chemical Plants
  • Boiler Feed Water
  • Acidic Water Problems

05How It Works

How Does Liquid Caustic Soda Work?

  1. pH Measurement

The water’s current pH is measured, and the target value and the dose required are set from it.

  2. Delivered by Dosing Pump

The caustic solution is delivered into the system or the tank through a dosing pump, under control.

  3. Neutralisation Takes Place

As a strong base, the caustic neutralises the acidic components in the water and raises the pH.

  4. The Anion Resin Is Renewed

In deionised systems the caustic solution is passed through the resin; the captured ions are released and the resin refreshed.

  5. Rinse and Check

The system is rinsed thoroughly and the pH measured again to confirm the target has been reached.

06Making the Right Choice

What Decides the Correct Dose

When using liquid caustic soda, the purpose, the water analysis and the dose must be established correctly.

Intended Use

Raising pH, regenerating resin and cleaning membranes each call for a different concentration.

The Current pH

The water’s starting pH and the target value directly determine the dose required.

System Flow Rate

The plant’s flow rate and daily consumption determine the dosing pump’s capacity.

Material Compatibility

The dosing pump, hoses and tanks should be chosen in materials that resist caustic.

07Safety and Use

Notes You Must Follow

  • Caustic is corrosive and must never be handled without protective goggles, gloves and suitable clothing.
  • Never mix it with chemicals containing acid; a violent reaction and heat can be released.
  • When diluting, always add the caustic slowly into the water; never pour water onto the caustic.
  • Store it cool, dry and closed, out of the reach of children, and read the safety data sheet (SDS).

08Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

What does liquid caustic soda do?
In water treatment systems it raises the pH of acidic water, regenerates the anion resin in deionised systems and is used in the chemical cleaning of membranes. It also plays a part in neutralising acidic wastewater.
What is caustic soda?
Caustic soda is the common name for sodium hydroxide (NaOH). It is a strong base, and dissolved in water it raises the pH markedly. That property is why it is used in water treatment for neutralisation and regeneration.
How does it differ from salt in resin regeneration?
The cationic resin in a water softener is regenerated with brine. In deionised pure water systems the anion resin is regenerated with caustic and the cation resin with acid, which is why caustic is needed in pure water systems.
What should you watch for when using it?
Caustic is corrosive and can cause serious burns to skin and eyes. Protective goggles, gloves and suitable clothing should be worn, and the work done in a well-ventilated area. It must never be mixed with acids.
How is the dose determined?
The water’s current pH, the target pH, the system’s flow rate and the intended use are assessed together. The pH must be measured after dosing; over-dosing makes the water more alkaline than it should be, while under-dosing does not achieve the intended effect.

Products in stock ship free anywhere in Türkiye and arrive within 1–3 business days. Items not in stock are supplied to order — the lead time is confirmed to you when the order is approved.

Installation and commissioning

Installation is a service · plumbing is the customer’s responsibility

The system is delivered ready to install; it only needs to be connected to the inlet and outlet lines. If valve setup is required, we provide free support over a video call. Installation and commissioning fall under our service work and are subject to a service fee. Plumbing labour and any pipes, valves and fittings are not included in the price; these items are the customer’s responsibility.

Warranty

Consumable

This product is classed as a consumable or spare part; because its life depends on use, it is not covered by warranty. Faulty or incorrectly shipped items are replaced — just get in touch with us.

Withdrawal and returns

Distance sales agreement

The right of withdrawal and the return terms are set out in detail in the distance sales agreement. Systems that have been installed and commissioned, and made-to-order products, are outside its scope.

Cancellation and return terms

How can we help?

Two different requests, two different forms.

The two forms ask different things: if we are building a new system we ask about your water and capacity; if your existing system needs service we ask for its brand and a photo.
