Problem
A Single Tank Means Hard Water While It Washes
In a single-tank system the tank drops out of service when the valve regenerates, and for that period the system either delivers hard water or none at all. In plants where production cannot stop, that is a serious problem.

05How It Works
How Does the Clack WS1 EI Twin Valve Work?

Tank One in Service
The system softens water with the resin in the active tank and sends it to the line; the second tank waits on standby.

Flow Metering
The valve meters the water passing through and watches for the tonnage set from hardness and resin quantity to be reached.

Changeover to the Second Tank
Once that tonnage is reached the valve automatically brings the second tank into service; the flow is never interrupted.

The Idle Tank Regenerates
While the second tank works, the exhausted first tank is washed with brine and renewed; the user never notices any hard water.

What Decides the Right Valve
When choosing the Clack WS1 EI Twin Valve, the need for uninterrupted supply and the flow rate must be assessed correctly.
How Critical Is Continuity
If soft water is essential during regeneration too, a twin arrangement is required; otherwise a single system may be enough.
Flow Requirement
The system’s peak flow must suit the 1″ connection capacity; higher flows call for a larger valve.

07Maintenance and Use
Notes That Keep It Performing
- There must always be enough salt in the brine tank; when the salt runs out neither tank can be renewed and the water turns hard again.
- Hardness and tonnage settings must be made correctly from a water analysis; incorrect settings lead either to wasted salt or to hard water.
- The piston, seal and O-ring assemblies in both tanks should be inspected periodically, and genuine Clack spare parts used.
- The first installation and programming are best carried out by a technical service engineer so that the twin synchronisation is correct.
