Booster Pumps

A reverse osmosis membrane needs pressure to work. Below roughly 3 bar it produces less permeate and sends more water to drain — so on low-pressure lines the pump is not an accessory, it is what makes the system perform to its rating.

Matching pump to membrane

Pumps here are named for the membrane they feed — a 300 GPD pump for a 300 GPD membrane, a 500 for a 500. Fitting a pump rated below the membrane starves it; fitting one far above it raises the pressure the housings and fittings see. Match them.

When you need one

If your building runs on a roof tank rather than direct mains pressure, or if the system is on an upper floor of an older block, you almost certainly need one. Low output combined with a high drain flow is the usual symptom of running a membrane without enough pressure.

Dosing pumps

This category also holds dosing pumps used on industrial lines for antiscalant injection and ORP-controlled dosing. Those are sized from the feed flow and the dose rate in the treatment design, not from the membrane rating.
