Balanced, Softer Drinking with the pH Alkaline Filter

The pH Alkaline Filter is an inline final-stage filter that brings the pH of water leaving the reverse osmosis stage up to around 8.5 and adds minerals to it. It comes with a 2 inch body, its original box and a fitting kit, and is easily added to your existing treatment unit.

01Problem & Solution

Treated Water Is Left Without Minerals

Problem

Low pH, a Flat Taste

As it separates out dissolved matter, a reverse osmosis membrane also lowers the water’s mineral content. The pH of the outlet water can drift slightly to the acidic side, and some people find the taste flat.

Solution

Balance at the Final Stage

Added to the line after the membrane, the pH Alkaline Filter brings the water’s pH up to around 8.5 and adds minerals. The water becomes better balanced and softer to drink.

02Key Features

Compact, Compatible, Practical

The pH Alkaline Filter is the stage that puts the finishing touch to a treatment system.

It Raises the pH

Bringing the outlet water to around pH 8.5 gives it a balanced character.

Added Minerals

The alkaline mineral bed adds minerals back to the treated water and enriches the taste.

A Compact Inline Body

The one-piece inline form fits easily into a tight space under the sink.

Comes with Box and Kit

Its original box and fitting kit make it straightforward to add to an existing line.

Wide Unit Compatibility

It can be added as a final stage to common under-sink reverse osmosis units.

A Quick Change

The one-piece cartridge lets you finish a filter change in short order.

04Applications

Where Is It Used?

The pH Alkaline Filter can be used in any installation where the treated water needs balancing.

  • Under-Sink RO Systems
  • Homes & Kitchens
  • Office Systems
  • Filtered Water Dispensers
  • Cafés & Restaurants
  • Adding to an Existing Unit
  • Annual Filter Replacement
  • Service & Installation Engineers

05How It Works

How Does the pH Alkaline Filter Work?

  1. Connected After the Membrane

The filter is fitted as a final stage on the clean water line leaving the reverse osmosis membrane.

  2. Through the Mineral Bed

The treated water moves slowly through the alkaline mineral media inside the cartridge.

  3. The pH Rises

In contact with the mineral bed, the water’s pH moves towards about 8.5.

  4. On to the Tap

The balanced water goes straight to the filter tap or the dispenser outlet.

  5. Replaced When Saturated

The mineral bed is used up over time; when the effect on pH weakens, the cartridge should be renewed.

06Making the Right Choice

Alkaline or Post Carbon?

When choosing the pH Alkaline Filter, the system layout, connection type and what you expect of it should be assessed.

What You Expect

If you want pH and mineral balance, the alkaline filter is the one; if you only want to polish the taste, post carbon will do.

Connection Type

Your unit’s hose diameter and connection type must suit what the kit contains.

Installation Space

There must be enough room under the sink or within the unit for the extra stage.

Order of Stages

The alkaline filter goes after the membrane; placing it among the pre-stages is wrong.

07Maintenance and Use

Replacement Notes

Changed on time, the pH Alkaline Filter keeps doing its job.

  • This cartridge cannot be washed; when the mineral bed is used up it must be replaced.
  • Following the outlet water with a pH test kit or a pen meter shows clearly when it is time to change.
  • Before changing it, shut off the water line, release the pressure and check the direction of flow.
  • After fitting the new cartridge, run off the first water produced a few times to rinse the system.

08Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

What does the pH Alkaline Filter do?
It brings the pH of water leaving the reverse osmosis stage up to around 8.5 and adds minerals to it, so the treated water becomes better balanced and softer to drink.
Does it treat the water?
No. This is a final-stage filter; it removes no sediment, chlorine or dissolved salts. The treatment is done by the system’s sediment, carbon and membrane stages, while the alkaline filter contributes only to pH and mineral balance.
How does it differ from a post carbon filter?
Post carbon gives the taste and odour a final polish. The alkaline filter raises the pH and adds minerals. The two serve different purposes and can also be used together.
What do the box and kit mean?
The product ships with its original box and a fitting kit. The kit contains the parts that make connecting the filter to an existing line straightforward; the contents vary by pack.
How often should it be replaced?
How often it is changed depends on daily consumption and incoming water quality. When the outlet water’s pH starts drifting back to where it was, the mineral bed is spent.

Two different requests, two different forms.

The two forms ask different things: if we are building a new system we ask about your water and capacity; if your existing system needs service we ask for its brand and a photo.
