Water Purifiers

A water purifier is a closed-circuit system that treats mains or tank water at the point where you drink and cook. Most of the units on this page work by reverse osmosis: water is pushed through a semi-permeable membrane that holds back dissolved solids, and what passes through is collected either in a pressure tank or delivered straight to the faucet. The choice between the two, and the capacity you need, is decided by household size and how much water you draw at peak times.

How a water purifier works

Treatment happens in stages, and each stage exists for a reason. Skipping one does not save money — it shortens the life of the stage that follows it.

• Sediment (spun or string-wound): holds back sand, rust and suspended particles, usually at 5 micron. It protects the carbon and the membrane behind it.
• Activated carbon (GAC and CTO): reduces chlorine, odour and taste. Chlorine damages an RO membrane, so this stage is not optional on mains water.
• Reverse osmosis membrane: the stage that actually lowers dissolved solids. Rated in GPD (gallons per day) — 50, 75, 100, 300, 400 and above.
• Post-carbon / mineral cartridge: finishes the taste. Mineral cartridges raise conductivity slightly by design.
• UV (ultraviolet) stage, where fitted: reduces microbiological risk on well and tank water. It is not needed on treated mains water.

Tank or direct flow?

Systems with a tank

A pressure tank stores treated water so it is ready the moment you open the faucet. An 8-litre tank holds roughly 5–6 litres of usable water once the air pre-charge is accounted for; a 12-litre tank holds around 8–9. Tank systems suit households that draw water in short bursts and have cabinet space under the sink.

Direct-flow systems

Direct-flow units use a higher-capacity membrane (300–600 GPD) and no storage tank. Water is produced as you draw it, so there is no standing water and the unit takes up less space. They suit larger households, cafés and offices where demand is continuous rather than occasional.

Choosing the right capacity

Capacity is set by peak hourly demand, not by daily total. A system chosen too small will not keep up when several people draw water at once; one chosen too large is unnecessary investment and loses efficiency at low flow. As a rough guide, a household of two to four people is well served by a 50–100 GPD tank system, while five or more people, or a small commercial kitchen, is better matched to a 300 GPD or larger direct-flow unit.

Feed pressure matters as much as membrane rating. Below roughly 3 bar an RO membrane produces less and wastes more, which is why most units on this page include a booster pump. If your building has low line pressure, tell us before you order.

Installation, warranty and service

Every unit is delivered ready to install; it needs connecting to the inlet and outlet lines. If valve setup is required we provide free support over a video call. Installation and commissioning are service work and are subject to a service fee. Plumbing labour and any pipes, valves and fittings are not included in the price.

Systems, valves, pumps and tanks carry a 2-year warranty; faucets carry 1 year. Filters, membranes, resin and salt are consumables — they are replaced when their service life ends rather than failing, so they sit outside warranty cover. Misuse is not covered on any product.
