Protect Your Membrane Against Scaling with Antiscalant

Antiscalant is a chemical used to stop industrial reverse osmosis membranes from fouling quickly with the scale and minerals in the water; dosed into the system by a dosing pump, it keeps the membranes working efficiently for longer.

01Problem & Solution

The Scale Deposit That Fouls a Membrane

Problem

The Membrane Fouls Quickly

As a reverse osmosis membrane separates water, the ion concentration at its surface rises. Without preventive measures, minerals such as calcium carbonate, calcium sulphate, barium sulphate and silica precipitate on the membrane surface, causing rapid fouling and loss of efficiency.

Solution

It Prevents Scaling from the Start

Antiscalant is dosed ahead of the membrane by a dosing pump and prevents mineral crystals from precipitating on the membrane surface. It keeps the membrane in service longer and reduces both cleaning frequency and running costs.

02Key Features

Protective, Efficient, Economical

Antiscalant is a scale inhibitor designed to protect the efficiency and membrane life of industrial reverse osmosis systems.

Scale Prevention

It prevents minerals such as calcium carbonate, calcium sulphate, barium sulphate and silica from precipitating.

Extending Membrane Life

By protecting the membrane it markedly lowers replacement and maintenance costs.

Dosing Pump Compatibility

Integrated into the reverse osmosis system by a dosing pump, it is applied continuously and under control.

A Little Goes a Long Way

It works effectively even at low doses; the correct rate is set according to water quality.

Less Frequent Cleaning

By extending the intervals between membrane cleans (CIP) it minimises system downtime.

Lower Running Costs

Higher recovery and fewer failures reduce the system’s total running cost.

04Applications

Where Is It Used?

Antiscalant is used in industrial reverse osmosis and treatment systems where membrane scaling is a risk.

  • Industrial RO Systems
  • Factories
  • Bottling Plants
  • Nanofiltration Systems
  • High-Hardness Water
  • Water High in Silica
  • Well Water RO Lines
  • Water Conditioning

05How It Works

How Does Antiscalant Work?

  1. Dosed by the Pump

Antiscalant is added to the feed water in a controlled way through the dosing pump, on the line ahead of the membrane.

  2. Interaction with the Minerals

Once in the water, the antiscalant surrounds the scale-forming mineral ions, delaying and blocking crystal formation.

  3. The Membrane Surface Is Protected

Because the minerals cannot precipitate, the membrane surface stays clean; no scale layer forms and the flow is maintained.

  4. Discharged with the Waste

The blocked minerals leave the system in dissolved form with the concentrate.

  5. Continuous Protection

Continuous dosing lets the membrane run without fouling for far longer and lengthens the intervals between cleans.

06Correct Use

What Decides the Correct Dose

When applying antiscalant, the water analysis and the membrane type must be assessed properly; the same dose is not used for every water.

Raw Water Analysis

The water’s hardness, silica and mineral content are the basis of both the dose needed and the product type.

Membrane Type

The membrane model in use and the manufacturer’s recommendations affect which antiscalant is right.

Recovery Rate

The system’s target recovery rate determines the mineral concentration in the concentrate and therefore the dose.

Dosing Pump Setting

Correct calibration of the dosing pump is necessary for uninterrupted, even protection.

07Notes on Use

What to Watch For

  • Set the dose from the water analysis; under-dosing leads to scaling and over-dosing to unnecessary cost.
  • Regular checking and calibration of the dosing pump matter for uninterrupted membrane protection.
  • Antiscalant prevents scaling; removing an existing scale layer requires a separate membrane clean (CIP).
  • Store the product under the manufacturer’s stated conditions and choose the right type from the feed water analysis.

08Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

What does antiscalant do?
It stops industrial reverse osmosis membranes from fouling quickly with the scale and minerals in the water. By preventing mineral crystals from precipitating on the membrane surface it keeps the membrane working efficiently for longer.
How is it applied?
It is integrated into the reverse osmosis system with a dosing pump and added continuously to the feed water on the line ahead of the membrane. The dose is set according to water quality.
What happens if it is not dosed?
As water passes the membrane, the ion concentration at the surface rises and inorganic salts such as calcium carbonate, calcium sulphate and barium sulphate precipitate. That leads to rapid fouling, loss of efficiency and early replacement.
How is the dose determined?
The correct dose is determined by the hardness and silica content of the feed water, the membrane type and the system’s recovery rate. The same dose is not used for every water; we recommend running a projection from the RO design data.
Does antiscalant clean the membrane?
Antiscalant is primarily preventive; it stops scale precipitating before it forms. Removing scale already built up on the membrane surface requires a separate membrane clean (CIP). Using antiscalant markedly reduces how often that is needed.

Products in stock ship free anywhere in Türkiye and arrive within 1–3 business days. Items not in stock are supplied to order — the lead time is confirmed to you when the order is approved.

Installation and commissioning

Installation is a service · plumbing is the customer’s responsibility

The system is delivered ready to install; it only needs to be connected to the inlet and outlet lines. If valve setup is required, we provide free support over a video call. Installation and commissioning fall under our service work and are subject to a service fee. Plumbing labour and any pipes, valves and fittings are not included in the price; these items are the customer’s responsibility.

Warranty

Consumable

This product is classed as a consumable or spare part; because its life depends on use, it is not covered by warranty. Faulty or incorrectly shipped items are replaced — just get in touch with us.

Withdrawal and returns

Distance sales agreement

The right of withdrawal and the return terms are set out in detail in the distance sales agreement. Systems that have been installed and commissioned, and made-to-order products, are outside its scope.

How can we help?

Two different requests, two different forms.

The two forms ask different things: if we are building a new system we ask about your water and capacity; if your existing system needs service we ask for its brand and a photo.
